It's a wood flooring thing

I recently visited the new workspace of a friend of mine, in one of the old apartment buildings in my town, Needless to say that the three room flat, with open kitchen and dinning space, gorgeous view, has one of the most beautiful herringbone solid wood floors I've seen around.
Why I'm telling you this? Because it struck me that she wants to replace it with carpet, which is a big no, no, in my book. Solid wood flooring, no matter the pattern and shade,  looks way better than plain gray carpet.

We had, for a quite a while I'm afraid, the majority of my childhood, the most hideous bright  green velvety carpet in our house.Well, we got rid of it as some point and replace it with prefinished hardwood flooring, which changed the space completely, but it still gives me nightmares.

Other than the aesthetic part of the wood floors, they are  easier to clean, so why would you switch to carpet? I told her that, and I'm sending the link to this post also.

Now, let me show you a couple of pretty spaces & great flooring ideas.

Two kitchens, one with reclaimed and bleached white oak & one with bamboo floors.

A beautiful rustic bedroom in contrast with dark floors and American Black Walnut floors from ESB Flooring.

And the gorgeous office of the WhoWhatWear team shot by the Coveteur.
