During winter, many of us neglect our outdoor space, leaving it to fall victim to the wild weather. However, when spring and summer roll around, we all want a wonderful garden retreat to relax in and catch some much sought after rays.
With purse strings tight in January, it’s not always possible to splurge on our garden makeovers. That’s why we’ve compiled this handy guide to updating your outdoor space on a budget. Read on to find out more:
Pretty patios
Dirty, cracked and damaged patios will do little to add to the idyllic feel of your garden escape. Patio stones can be expensive and finding an exact match can be difficult, but there are other options available.
If your patio is still in an acceptable condition, you may be able to restore it with a good old-fashioned clean. Specialist cleaning companies can do this, though you can save some cash by grabbing your pressure washer and doing it yourself.
When your patio is beyond repair, you’ll need to replace it. TactTiles stocks a fantastic range of tough, durable patio tiles. These easy to install tiles can often be cheaper than patio stones and can be laid over the top of an existing surface. What’s more, they come in some unusual designs too, so you can really make a feature of the space.
Perfect pots
Potted plants work well on patios, as they add some much needed foliage to an otherwise urban space. To emphasize the beauty of your plants, you’ll need some equally as attractive pots to house them – those broken, old terracotta ones simply won’t cut it!
Look for brightly coloured pots to add an extra dash of colour to your space. For a modern, sleek edge go for polished metal ones, while a wooden planter, like this one from Tesco, will add a rustic feel to your garden.
Or, if your pots are in good condition and are just a bit grubby, simply wash them down with a mild detergent and restore them to their former glory.
